Gay Man Files $70M Suit Against Bible Publishers Over ‘Homosexual’ Verses

A homosexual man has filed a $70 million lawsuit against Bible publishers Zondervan and Thomas Nelson, alleging that their version of the Bible that refers to homosexuality as a sin violates his constitutional rights and has caused him emotional distress.
According to the Christian Post, ex-con turned author Bradley LaShawn Fowler filed the federal suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on Monday, the same day a judge refused to appoint him a lawyer for his suit against Thomas Nelson, The Grand Rapids Press reported.

“The Court has some very genuine concerns about the nature and efficacy of these claims,” the judge wrote.Fowler, who is representing himself in both cases, claims that Zondervan manipulated Scripture by using the term “homosexuals” in 1 Corinthians 6:9 of their 1982 and 1987 revised edition Bibles. He also contends that the reference to homosexuality were deleted by the publisher in later versions without informing the public.

He alleges that since the older Kings James Version containing the term “homosexuals” is used by his family pastor, he has been outcast by his family.
The 39-year-old is suing the Grand Rapids publisher for compensation of 20 years of “emotional duress and mental instability,” he told WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids.In a hand-written suit, Fowler lists all sorts of charges against Zondervan including malicious negligence, strict liability, malice, libel, and violating his civil rights. He filed a suit in June against Tennessee-based publisher Thomas Nelson on similar grounds. He’s seeking $60 million from
Zondervan and $10 million from Thomas Nelson Publishing.
Zondervan issued a statement to The Christian Post that said they do not discuss ongoing litigation. The company’s spokesperson Tara Powers, however, pointed out that they only publish Bibles, not translate them. Since Zondervan does not translate the Bible or own the copyright for any of the translations we publish, we are not in a position to comment on the merits of how a word should or should not be translated,” said Powers.
We rely on the scholarly judgment of the highly respected and credible translation committees behind each translation and never alter the text of the translations we are licensed to publish. We only publish credible translations produced by credible biblical scholars,” she noted.
According to Fowler, Zondervan has 20 days to respond to the claims listed.

How robots are helping Marines save lives on battlefield

Marines are known for risking their lives on the battlefield, but more and more, robot technology is helping to avoid those dangers and save lives. 
At this year’s Fleet Week celebrations in New York, Marine specialists showed Fox News National Security Analyst KT McFarland the latest technology they are using in combat. 
One of those machines, the Mark II Talon is proving to be a crucial robot for Marines in the field.
We use this for going downrange on any suspicious devices or packages that we have. This helps out to keep the [specialists] away and keeps the personnel safe,” said Staff Sgt. Mike Hill.
The Marines have used this type of robot in the U.S. as well as in Afghanistan and Iraq. Hill, who recently served in Afghanistan, says his team always carried the robot with them on missions. “Whenever I would come upon a device, the first thing I would do is put the robot down to go look at it.
Four cameras are mounted on the robot. This gives the Marines a multi-view, close-up look at a potential threat. This helps “us to see all aspects of what we are dealing with and what we have done there.
It is also equipped with a gripping feature on the front of the robot that allows it to work on suspicious devices. The Packbot is another robot utilized by the Marines in combat. Compared with other machines, its compact size helps the military in more complex situations.
As opposed to the other robots, it’s a little smaller, but it’s also quicker and more versatile and it has good line of sight and it could do a lot of stuff for us remotely so we don’t have to – it can go out there and put itself in the line of danger,” said  Staff Sgt. Sean Hrncir.
The Marines can control the Packbot via a live feed from several hundred yards away.  “Several cameras all around giving us a 360 [degree view] … on the front, back, and also on the arms so we can look at the gripper as well to make sure we know what we are picking up.
Its controller might seem familiar to most – Marines control it with a joystick just like ones used for gaming systems. This allows the user to more smoothly control the Packbot’s movements.
Robots, Marines reiterated, will become more frequent sights on the battlefield, especially as the technology advances in the next several years. However, while support grows, there are still some concerns. According to a recent report by the Center for a New American Security, robots “have been used to great effect in current operations but are still in their infancy in terms of their full potential.

DUBLIN –  Irish voters backed legalizing gay marriage by a landslide, according to electoral figures announced Saturday -- a stunning result that illustrates the rapid social change taking place in this traditionally Catholic nation. Figures from Friday's referendum announced at Dublin Castle showed that 62.1 percent of Irish voters said "yes." Outside, watching the results announcement live in the castle's cobblestoned courtyard, thousands of gay rights activists cheered, hugged and cried.
The unexpectedly strong percentage of approval surprised both sides. Analysts and campaigners credited the yes side with adeptly using social media to mobilize first-time young voters and for a series of searing personal stories from Irish gay people to convince voters to back equal marriage rights.
Ireland is the first country to approve gay marriage in a popular national vote. Nineteen other countries have legalized the practice.

David Quinn, leader of the Catholic think tank Iona Institute, said he was troubled by the fact that no political party backed the "no" cause.

Breaking News Nigerian Restaurant Shut Down For Serving Human Meat,

A restaurant in Nigeria has been reportedly been closed down after authorities discovered staff were cooking human flesh and serving it to customers.
The police were tipped off by concerned locals and, when they raided the kitchen, they found human heads which were still dripping with blood in plastic bags!
One resident said:
I am not surprised at the shocking revelation. Every time I went to the market, I observed strange activities going on in the hotel. People who were never cleanly dressed and who looked a bit strange made their way in and out of the hotel, making me very suspicious of their activities.
The police also found an arsenal of weapons in the restaurant, located in the south-eastern province of Anambra, including grenades and AK-47 rifles. Ten people were arrested in connection to the crimes.
Bizarrely, a local priest who ate at the hotel seemed more alarmed by the price of the meals there than the fact he might have been eating human flesh.
He was presented with a bill of 700 Naira (around £2.20) when the daily wage for millions of Nigerians is only around 60p.
Speaking to BBC Swahili, the priest said:
 The attendant noticed my reaction and told me it was the small piece of meat I had eaten that made the bill scale that high. I did not know I had been served with human meat, and that it was that expensive
